Conservation House (Whare Kaupapa Atawhai) is one of New Zealand’s most environmentally friendly buildings, reflecting DOC's responsibility for protecting the country's natural environment.

The Department of Conservation’s national office, based in Wellington, is the hub of the Department. All Deputy Directors-General are based in National Office alongside the Director-General.

National priorities, policies and systems are developed in collaboration with operations staff..
